Health Guarantee Policy at Homely Cattery

At Homely Cattery, we stand by the health and well-being of our kittens. Every kitten purchased from us comes with a 1-year health guarantee to provide you with peace of mind as you welcome your new furry family member.

Initial Health Examination

Within 10 days of purchasing your kitten, it is essential to bring them to a licensed veterinarian for an examination. This step is crucial in ensuring that your kitten is in good health.

  • If the veterinarian determines that your kitten is sick or has unfortunately passed away due to an illness or injury likely contracted before the sale, you have several options:

    1. Return the Kitten: You may return the kitten for a full refund.
    2. Exchange the Kitten: You can exchange your kitten for another of equal value.
    3. Retain the Kitten: You may choose to keep the kitten and be reimbursed for reasonable veterinary fees, up to the purchase price.

Disclosure of Health Issues

In a scenario where the seller has disclosed any health issues in writing and has provided a health certificate from a veterinarian, the options above will not apply.

Congenital or Hereditary Defects

If, within 30 days of purchase, a licensed veterinarian determines that your kitten has a congenital or hereditary defect negatively affecting its health, or if the kitten dies from such a defect, you will have the same options as mentioned above.

Notification Requirements

It is crucial to notify us within two days of the veterinarian’s certification. When you do this, please provide the veterinarian’s name, address, and phone number. If you fail to notify us within two business days, you may forfeit the rights granted under this health guarantee.

Understanding State Laws

Each state has unique laws governing the sale of kittens, so it is important to familiarize yourself with the specific regulations in your state:

  • State Variations: While every state has guidelines regarding health guarantees, any breeder advertising through Homely Cattery is required to provide a minimum 30-day health guarantee, even if the state does not have a mandated guarantee. If a state law offers a longer guarantee, that law will take precedence.

  • Extended Guarantees: While some breeders may provide extended health guarantees, it is illegal for any breeder to offer a health guarantee that does not meet or exceed the state law requirements. Extended genetic health guarantees, if offered, specifically cover diseases or illnesses proven to originate from genetic factors through proper veterinary examination and testing.

Exclusions from the Guarantee

Please note that the health guarantee does not cover:

  • Routine Veterinary Costs: General care for your kitten, such as vaccinations and regular medical check-ups, is not included in this guarantee.
  • Owner Negligence: Any costs incurred due to owner negligence or accidental injury will not be reimbursed.
  • Documentation: Proper documentation must be provided to us for any compensation related to health issues covered by this guarantee.

At Homely Cattery, our commitment to the health and welfare of our kittens extends beyond the initial sale. We are here to support you and your new kitten throughout their life, providing guidance and resources to ensure a happy, healthy home.
